Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures(TCFD)

In January 2021, TOK announced its support for the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), established by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) at the request of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors. We disclose our climate change related information based on TCFD.

Japan Climate Initiative(JCI)

In July 2023, TOK participated in JCI. JCI is an alliance of local governments, NGOs, and other organizations that are actively working to address climate change. We endorse JCI's statament about overcoming climate crisis and energy crisis by accelerating the introduction of renewable energy and carbon pricing".

Semiconductor Climate Consortium(SCC)

In November 2022, TOK has become a founding member of the new Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC), a group formed with other companies from across the semiconductor value chain and Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) .

We support the Paris Agreement and related accords driving the 1.5⁰C pathway and aims to “reduce CO2 emissions (per-base-unit) by 15 points by 2030*” and “achieve ‘net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emission’ by 2050.” In association with SCC members, the Company seeks to reduce GHG emissions across the semiconductor value chain.

Human Capital Management Consortium

In September 2022, TOK participated in Human Capital Management Consortium, established by Mr. ITO Kunio, Director of Hitotsubashi University CFO Education and Research Center, and six other founders. We aim for human capital management practices and enhance corporate value.

White Logistics promotional campaign

TOK agrees with the aims of the White Logistics promotional campaign as endorsed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and has submitted a declaration of voluntary action to the Secretariat of the White Logistics Promotional Campaign. We aspires to achieve sustainable logistics through the White Logistics promotional campaign in collaboration with its business connections and logistics providers.

Declaration of Partnership Building

The Council on Promoting Partnership Building for Cultivating the Future, which consists of representatives from business circles and labor organizations as well as related ministers, held the first meeting, and the members confirmed the framework of the Declaration of Partnership Building. In july 2020, TOK endorse its framework and announced the Declaration of Partnership Building.

Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index

The FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index, which was developed by the global index provider FTSE Russell, reflects the relative performance of Japanese companies that excel in terms of addressing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues in their respective sectors. The Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF)  adopts this index as benchmark for passive investment.

TOK has been selected as a component of this index since 2022.

MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index

The MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index consists of companies with excellent ESG ratings as selected by MSCI from among the components of the MSCI Japan IMI Top 700 Index, which is the parent to this index. The Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF)  adopts this index as benchmark for passive investment.

TOK has been selected as a component of this index for five consecutive years since 2019.

iSTOXX MUTB Japan
Platinum Career 150

This index was jointly developed by Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation and STOXX Limited, an index provider affiliated with the Deutsche Börse Group. This index selects companies with the highest platinum career score from the STOXX Japan 600 index constituents excluding REITs. It tracks the performance of 150 Japanese companies that actively contribute to employee career development.

TOK has been selected as a component of this index since 2023.

S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index

The S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index determines the weighting of component stocks by focusing on the status of environmental information disclosure and the level of carbon efficiency (carbon emissions per unit of sales) with its universe consisting of TOPIX, an index of representative stocks reflecting Japanese market trends. The Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF)  adopts this index as benchmark for passive investment.

Sompo Sustainability Index

The Sompo Sustainability Index is a responsible investment product for pension funds and institutional investors for which Sompo Asset Management has selected approximately 300 stocks with an excellent ESG background. This index is used for sustainable operations oriented towards long-term investments.

TOK has been selected as a component of this index for thirteen consecutive years since 2011.

Evaluations and Certifications

MSCI ESG Rating

The MSCI ESG Rating is a program through which MSCI analyzes company-launched initiatives related to ESG and assigns a rating on a seven-point scale from the highest rank of AAA to the lowest rank of CCC.

TOK obtained an A rating for five consecutive years since 2018.

Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations Recognition Program

Under this program, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi recognizes corporations, including large companies and small to medium-sized enterprises, engaging in especially good health management practices based on initiatives in line with local health issues and initiatives designed to promote health.

TOK was selected under this recognition program in 2018-2020, 2022-2024.
