Purchasing Electricity Derived from Renewable Energy; Reducing CO₂ Emissions at All Sites in Japan

Sustainability

TOKYO OHKA KOGYO CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Kawasaki, Japan/President: Noriaki Taneichi) hereby announces that the company has switched more than 70% of electricity purchases at all sites in Japan to power derived from renewable energy from September 2021.

We initiated the introduction of electricity derived from renewable energy in fiscal 2019,* and by switching 70% or more of the annual purchase amount of electricity—approximately 45,000 MWh—to power derived from renewable energy, we expect to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 14,000 tons a year.

We unveiled our long-term vision, “TOK Vision 2030,” in August 2020, aiming to become "The e-Material Global Company" contributing to a sustainable future through chemistry. We will contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality by utilizing our existing products and developing new products.

We will continue to actively work on global environmental load reduction to contribute to society through our group’s businesses, together with all the stakeholders of our group.

*In fiscal 2019, the electricity purchased at our company headquarters building was completely switched to power derived from renewable energy. In fiscal 2021, we switched 70% or more of the electricity purchased at our production and development sites in Japan to that derived from renewable energy.
